I reckon you need much better mastering.
Dance music has much more post-processing than than your other average stuff.

First of all. Your two melodies are in the the same frequencies, making it really hard to listen both at the same time.

Next, your drums seem to be nice and punchy, but again they are still in the high frequencies, which sounds alright, but push the melodies into to the shadows.

But mainly, your Compression and EQ was a real let down. You had almost no bass, which is crap for dance music.

Even in less than a minute, can make this sound much better.

^^^ That is your track with a light touch of compression and reverb, applied by me in Adobe Audition in less than 2 mins and IMO sounds much better.
Will definitely sound better on shitty speakers/headphones.

Concluding, you should read up on stuff about mastering.

I do not have a computer still, so I had to use a basic program, which involves no mastering, to make this track. I also had to lower the sound quality to get this to fit the required size because the original render was a huge file (which is also why I only uploaded the 1:32 long version). My headphones have a lot of bass, and a super heavy bassed song wasn't really what I was going for, so I could understand someone whos headphones don't have as much bass, not really enjoying this to a full effect.

Also, I would more or less qualify this as electro, but since there is no electro section and my friend immediately started dancing when he heard this, I put it in the Dance portal.

But yeah I will definately take your advise on mastering. I don't really know a whole lot about it, so I'm probably going to read some tips, and watch some youtube videos. And I might even re-upload a remastered version of this song later on down the road.

Thanks for the review. Good criticism is always appreciated ;)

Sounds Awesome. I really like the background arp.

ChasingPresence responds:

you're AWESOME :)

Lovely.

ChasingPresence responds:

You are too =)

Wow nice!

I really like how you combine your sounds. I mean I haven't heard natural sounds, like the wind you included in the background, since errr... Yeah, I don't really remember hearing a sound that did that before.

Great Work!

Keegs responds:

Thank you! I like building up atmosphere ^^

Thanks for the review!

This song and Spacetime are my two favourite songs on Newgrounds. I really like your style.
Chillout DnB I'd call it.

I wrote this review because I have to disagree with JDRhythm's review below.
Yes, the bassline wasn't very prominent, but I can't call that a bad thing at all.
The bass is light and fluffy, like Whipped Cream on a Chocolate Cake.

I'm sorry if you didn't like that the Bass wasn't the Biscuity Base of the cake as of a lot of DnB out there. The Bass paves way, much politely, to the melody. Especially, after 1:45 where the drums fade, and you are left just with the bassline and the melody. I especially enjoy this intermission in the song.
I really like how the drums fade in out throughout the song. There are parts where your bobbing your head, then there are the subtle, lo-cut bits, as well as some parts with no drums at all.

I have absolutely nothing to say that's bad about this song. It's just perfect.

May I also say this song is very inspirational. I'm dreaming about developing a game, with this song as the main theme. Though I'm very lazy and unmotivated naturally, this song has motivated me to do some preliminary work and planning.

Don't worry about what other people say, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Now as much as I love reading praised reviews, there has to be a reveiw that lets me look at my track from another angle.

Makes me smile to read how much this track inspires you, and I hope to make more track like this in the future.

Thanks for the kind words man. Really means a lot to me.

Lovely. But I reckon it would be cooler to make the main riff much more prominent. Mebe some distortion, or a saw wave for that. But great work anyways.
:*)

TBC-x1x2x3 responds:

I wanted to make it as 8-bit as possible. The only thing that isn't 8-bit, are the drums. That's because I prefer this to 8-bit drums.

Wow! This is very nice. Beginning and middle was really good, but the ending was weird.
It's good to see that songs like this actually get up to a decent length. I tired of listening to WIP's or tracks that are less than 1.5 mins. Great Work!

ArcaneSoul responds:

Ty thought im now at the rate where it is impossible for me to make a song under than 5:00 minutes. In my opinion this is actually a problem XD

I liked the part from 2:06. Great Job!

inhstudios responds:

hahaha, thanks a bunch :)
after finally publishing it after slacking on it for 5 months (lol it usually only takes me a day to 2 weeks to finalize a track, but i was just slacking SOOOO MUCH on this one), i listened to all of the things i could have totally changed to make it 100X better. anyhow, i guess thats just how we grow, by learning from our own mistakes.

Awesome! But this isn't new...

Hi SG, I've been listening to your songs for a while now. They are really good. But your songs are too similar and they get repetitive. You use the EXACT same chord progressions, synths and drums each time. If you make something truly jaw-breaking it will be something you haven't done before.

Take a plunge and you might find treasures in undiscovered seas!

SKILLZmakeKILLZ responds:

if you dont want repetitive chords then you are in the wrong genre.

HOLY S***

AMAZING. Really keeps the adventure theme. That ukulele thing or whatever themes really gives that forest adventure feel. AWSM! Good job!

DiroNomer responds:

Thanks man :D

If you are reading this, I thank you.
